I put an Apex in a Gen 1 M&P full size.
It was worth it, but those triggers were not great .

yea thats what ive read. ive got a shield plus which was supposed to improve the trigger, still feels like crap to me.
my gun guy says most of the factory QC goes into the barrels and slides, and that triggers come out with different Lbs. of pull all the time.

I did on an M&P compact and a Shield 1.0. It wasn't life-changing but it was a measurable improvement. You'll need to be somewhat mechanically adept and have some tools but it didn't require anything fancy.
When I looked at the guts of my Shield Plus it looks like they come already improved from earlier versions. At some point they just started copying (or they were inspired by if you prefer) the Apex sear geometry and they started making it standard. You could almost definitely polish the contact surfaces and make it a little slicker, because for a massed produced gun $350 gun only goes so far, but I wouldn't buy an entire kit unless there's something worlds better than the Apex out there.
