Left for work this morning and when I turned on the main road there was a basket rack buck dead on the side of the road.
It was a bout 1/2 mile from the SW corner of the property.
Three other does scattered along the 12 miles to the interstate also.

I just saw a prison work release gang leaving dead orange black bears all along side the highway.

It is not a matter of if but when will I hit a deer! I've had 2 close calls already this fall!

My MawMaw worked the midnight shift at AT&T in Shreveport years ago. There is an area on Colquit Rd where it’s low and on certain mornings the fog is really thick. She was driving home and there were 4 does in the middle of the road. She was on them before she could do anything. One of the does came through the windshield. Really messed her up. If it hadn’t been for some fellow workers, she probably would have died. I have deer whistles on my truck. Seem to work.

Had a 2yr old buck (big spikes) killed in front of my neighbor's house. It made it to where he parks his cars before dying. He grabbed it and drug it across the road and put it there for the county to get.
The next day an ole dude and his woman came by and picked it up and put it in the back of their truck. Unsure what the hell they were going to do with 1day old road kill, but glad it's gone and I won't have to smell it for 10 days waiting on the county.
