A “Goujon” is any catfish. A goujon kie is a spotted cat/op.

Those “mud cats” we call poly wogs. In cold water they are delish.

Thanks for the Cajun Lesson. I am from Mississippi and know very little cajun. I had and old man down in Bayou Pigeon tell me that name for spotted/flathead catfish so it makes sense that there is another part to it.

My Uncle is retired oilfield millionaire that you would never know and works with his BIL fishing and selling catfish. He sells fillets for $5 a quart bag (cant sell by the pound because you need a certified scale) and can't keep up. It's all word of mouth. I promise if you have #100 pounds of catfish to sell during lent it will be gone in a couple days. If I want to buy from him I have to give him a weeks notice. He has a commercial gear license.

The one poster says someone is taking uncleaned cats. At least I think that's what he meant.

I had genuinely contemplated it as a side job at a point. The thought of just cleaning hundreds of pounds of catfish a week though.

Ah gotcha, when they hit a big lick and the fish are running really good they will sell some whole to a fish house in Des Allemands.

I have it set off the end of my dock.
Will report on catch.
