The big box brand and Harbor Freight stuff is decent quality

If you insist on buy the Harbor Freight sockets, DO NOT go with the 12 point. You'll end up frustrated with a handful of rounded off sockets that will just help you round off bolts.

This is why you still cant go wrong with Craftsman. Like I said, I never bought a bad Craftsman tool. I have, over the years, filled in my "missing pieces" from the Craftsman set with a mix of Harbor Freight, Duralast, etc. All have held up except a 1/4" torque wrench from Harbor Freight. The ratcheting mechanism is sketchy.

Whatever brand you settle on be sure and get a set of six(6) point sockets!!
Six point have more contact with bolt/nut faces than 12 point and will not strip as easily.
Get both standard and metric as much new stuff is metric.
Have used Crafstman since early 60's and still use wrenches I purchased the. But
I have recently purchased some Kobalt from Home Depot, on sale cheap, that
I find to be pretty good tools.
Use the right tool for the right job and you will enjoy your work more.

Be sure to get 15 10mm sockets. Bitches are always disappearing on you.
