Any certain color to the flukes? Never thrown one but I hear pearl is pretty popular.

The shad color (cream/lavender) arkansas shiner (charcoal/beige) and baby bass (cream/green/glitter) are my go-to

I start with a fluke when I'm bass fishing at any time of the year and it's my go-to articficial for trout and redfish as well. If you know how to work it then fish don't have much of a choice to bite. The action triggers an instinct in predatory fish that causes them to strike. It resembles a wounded baitfish, thus an easy meal that is difficult for a predator to pass up anywhere in nature

I've had success in pre-spawn and spawn periods with a texas rigged lizard also. The nose down look gives it the appearance of an egg feeding scavenger and mama bass do not take kindly to that.

I might not even be able to get out of the house until then.

Went out to the camp on grand river thursday and fished every day through today, rain and shine. I threw everything in my bag and didn't catch one damn fish other than catfish off the deck. Talk about a relaxing and a frustrating long weekend all in one.

Depends on water temps for me. Less than 50 I go deeper with a jig or Carolina, 50-55 I like to throw all the usual stuff but I love flipping a crawworm. I will also use a finesse worm or 4" lizard on light tackle Texas rigged or dropshot in 8' to 10' of water. Wacky worm senko flipped to trees work very good when the females are staging in the slews. Add just enough weight to get it to sink.

A couple things I like to do is throw a crankbait on any type of rock or concrete structure on sunny days. These places warm up faster and hold prey.

I like to slow roll a white spinnerbait on green trees and rocks.

If you have never fished at night in the early spring you don't know what you are missing. They will kill a black spinnerbait, crankbait and jigs.
