Power running-board problem 2015 Navigator

When the driver door opens the running board comes down like normal but after about 5 seconds, with the door still open, it will go back up. On the same side, when the back passenger door opens, the running board comes down and stays down like it should.
Anyone know how to fix this issue with the driver door?

Wife's (no pics) Navigator had the same problem it's an '18. Her's would also show the "door ajar" alert for several seconds after closing the door in addition to the power running board delay. There is a sensor inside the door panel that signals whether the door is open or closed. It is likely either dirty or malfunctioning.
That's about all I have because ours was still under warranty so I let the dealership fix it.

It's the running board's way of saying "get the frick in and let's go"

Yep, and it's a PITA to pay out the azz to repair what amounts to a luxury item.
