We have a ton of them in in Henry. The Boston Canal is our southward boundary, and those damn things swarm all season.

The green chicken feet freak me out.

Also, they are all over the canals in Amsterdam. I saw some last summer and ordered duck that night for dinner. MMMM-Munchies.

15 man limit. We usually start shooting and by the time the sun comes up, you have over 100 birds dead on the water. I have missed one opening day in 25 years. I still can't believe I haven't been hurt. Safety glasses is a must.

Don't forget the fact that mostly everyone sleeps in the blind or boat or camp. I have a camp there. Drink all night then go blast some chickens. Headaches are a bitch when you shoot 3-4 boxes of shells a person with 5-6 people in the blind.

Maybe I can trade you a parking spot for a tuna trip. I live on the thibodaux side of Theriot's canal. I usually have people park in my yard and leave their boat tied to my bulkhead.

My old lab wouldn't pick up a poule d'eau. He'd get to it and come back to the blind.

My dog does this. I've shot coots just to work him and he'll pick em up but you can tell he hates it. Same thing with cow birds...

Not good sport to shoot them, its funner to run them down and hit them with a paddle!

I did this as a kid on Black Bayou north of Monroe.

Once, while fishing a canal off Lake St. John near Ferriday, I spooked one....dumb fricker flew straight into the side of a house trailer and killed itself.

I knew some guys who'd shoot them and just take the gizzards.
