We had that happen once. Pelican dove after the bait and the hook got caught in his bill. We caught him, took the hook out and let him go. No pics

I you look closely at the pic you can see my 8 y/o daughter sneaking a hand in to pet it.
That sum bich was pissed. Just remember to grab the beak if you ever hook one, they have a big hook on the end of it and they will try to bite the piss out of you.

I think my most favorite pelican memory was when I was driving the truck and towing the trailer home while my dad was asleep in the passenger seat. I had all 4 windows down in the truck driving down Hopedale Highway around dusk, when all of a sudden, a pelican flies into the truck and lands on the back seat. I start freaking out, the bird starts freaking out, my dad wakes up and says "what the frick" and we wrestle with the bird to get him out of the truck. Thank god he wasn't hurt, otherwise I would have felt really bad.

Like I said, didn't like the upkeep on a bay boat. Where I fish in Empire it would get too scratched up on the reefs.
