Pond aeration

I share a 3 acre pond with a neighbor that is anxious to start catching big fish off his dock. Currently we can catch small bass and decent sized blue gill. His idea is to put in an aeration system and to also start feeding the fish. There may be some merit to the idea but I'm not sure that I want to split $9,000 to do so. He's got a quote from a company that would sell the materials for an air pumping station, 8 aerators, and a ton of 5/8 inch tubing. Our shared pond is a bit unusual, this is the Florida panhandle and it's probably a shallow sinkhole that is part of the massive aquafer system that comes out in this area. The water is always very clear, the pond has healthy vegetation including lily pads, and the bottom is sand rather than mud. The water can get hot on a summer day - I've waded in and found water like a hot tub on the surface. It's mostly pretty shallow, the deepest I can find is just over 6 feet, and most is 3 feet or less. With the shallow depth would aeration really help the fish out that much? One concern I've got is that now the fish are probably surviving the hot days by lurking in the 6 foot hole where it is cooler. If we put an aerator in that hole it's going to mix the water and potentially bring warmer water to the bottom. Anybody have pond aeration experience and an opinion for this case?
Another potential problem - this pond is delineated as wetland, is there any problem installing aeration in a protected wetland?

Any chance that you can put a floating dock in the pond to give the bass some reprieve from the heat?

Yeah, a floating dock is in the works. He's already got a fixed floating dock that goes out around 25 feet, he's going to add a floating detachable section that is around 15x15 foot with a trolling motor to move it around the pond.

At that shallow of a depth you could add a couple fountains if you wanted. But anything less than 6 feet it's really not needed

9k?
You can buy a 10hp aerator from House Manufacturing here in Inverness, Ms for about 5k. You’ll have to set up the electrical box for it, probably cost around 1,500 for that.
Or buy you one of these bad boys for 12k

Wildlife and Fisheries dept in Florida might have biologists you could seek advice from, might also know about the wetlands rules.I would seek advice from an expert before I spent that kind of money.

If you don't want to aerate, don't aerate. Sounds like he wants to use your money for his pet projects. I don't know the age of the pond, but the answer to bigger fish is almost always pull out the smaller fish to balance the population out. You really don't need to add a feeder for bass.... just have good habitat for the forage fish.
