It’s real spread out. 6 plots are on a 3000 acre club and 3 other plots are on another piece of land I lease 10 miles away from club. All on leased timber company pine land.

The sad thing is I rarely hunt these plots/feeders cause I love public land hunting but wife and kids do so here I am.

Tickets have been written, for sure. The year the ban went into effect, they flew the area looking for feeders. We had pictures of game wardens on our property line, which is also a field edge. We never got pics of them on the interior of our place, but we also weren’t baiting.

I bet those coonasses stop feeding as soon as the season is over.

There are a bunch of them in the club that leases land to the north of me - the type that locals are referring to when they cuss "Louisiana hunters - and they put out corn like crazy until Jan. 31 and then stop until Thanksgiving.

Ok, feeding should be only done supplementally to get deer past tough times of the year. Drought etc.

People shooting deer on a feeder is baiting.

You already know that.

So, I’ll tell you this. We have killed and see just as many deer this season (my first where we shut down/ran dry feeders) as we did before.

It’s a lot less stressful for us in the sense that you listed above, but added stress to get a good standing food plot.

So the answer is……it depends

have heard bits and pieces that feeding will be outlawed in the coming years with all the CWD going around anyway.

Selfishly, I would benefit from this tremendously.

Hunting was better on my property before corn in MS. I can say that with certainty . And there were more hunters too.

I'm at the same point. We skimped on the plots, half the feeders didn't work st times for multiple reasons, no big deer at feeders. Seen them passing on cams along the powerline. I'm ready to get rid of the corn.

It’s better for the overall health of the herd if you focus on your habitat and plots.

Habitat first.

I hunt in a club where pretty much everyone puts our corn except me, who puts all my effort into a top notch plot.

I see zero hogs, and am currently tagged out. They are still hunting and deal with hogs nightly.

It’s worked out for me. Just my experience though. I hunt area 4 pine plantation lan

I do the exact same thing on private property in Union Parish and have the same experience as you. The biggest problem I have are the damn fence hoppers who have discovered my plots and feel it is perfectly fine for them to hunt my place because "I'm not using it".

My theory is that we are all competing to build the most conducive habitat for the game. Better food plots, year round, seem to be superior to corn in my area so I put the effort in to ceate them.
