F150 Yamaha

Changed the LU Oil and the old oil was a dull green. Yellow when new. I don't think it was milky, but the dullness of the green color kinda made me question that.

Anyone else get green oil from their LU?

I did not run it much last year, so maybe the green is just yellow on the way to black in color. I will probably run it a couple of times and change it again.

As long as it isn't milky it shouldn't be a problem. When water gets in it gets sheared in the teeth over and over and turns into an emulsion. Actually just a wide dispersion of very tiny water droplets and it looks milky. The droplets are so small they stay separated and don't gather and float back to the top. If the color changed but it is still clear at all, you should be okay. If not clear, then you might have water in there. Doesn't sound like much.

Oils can change colors some with age and temp. Likely just this.

Thanks for the response. Oil was transparent in the light.

Just skittish considering lower unit repair costs.

You’re good, long as you put the right oil back in.
