If any of you good souls on here have land in Oklahoma and/or know a good outfitter, I’d like to take an old Okie war buddy of mine back to his home state for a turkey hunt as he is rotating back from a stint in Antarctica. Gracias is advance.

I'd help if I could, but I can't get turkeys of any number around my region. I've tried myself and it's just hard where I'm at because I'm a bit too far west to be in the good Eastern territory and I'm too far east to be in the Rios territory.

I've tried my land and local WMAs and jack shite. The public land in extreme SE (Easterns) and SW Oklahoma (Rios) have good numbers. When I hunt Ft Sill for elk, I always see tons of birds out there.

Are you guys retired? If so, look into Ft Sill. I elk hunt out there and have killed some big old bucks out there.

I really appreciate the info!

Never knew Ft. Sill offered elk hunts, that’s awesome.

Any WMAs in SE you recommend?

Packsaddle or Black Kettle. If you hunt you will kill one.

Do you have experience at those WMAs? If so, where did you stay and what time of year did you go?

Hunted all around the Black Kettle but not on it that I know of. It is huge.

Best time is 2nd and 3rd week of April. Just watch for tornadoes and snakes.

Yeah I used to have a lease one county south of where the Black Kettle is located. Numbers in that area are definitely down but it used to be an awesome spot.

Thank you for response. What town would you suggest is best to base out of? looks like Arnett or Cheyenne are where hotels are located.
