I just realized that this thread took a major turn and I never explained it- will be a new thread, because I learned A LOT about the used boat and refit world in a week. Hopefully I can save someone some grief.
In a nutshell, I bought a place in Grand Isle in August. Started then to think about bigger boat, kids getting older etc.
Really got serious about it last week.
When I get serious about something- it has to happen right away. Fatal character flaw- but mostly works well.
We made a list of boats to look at from Gulf Shores to Islamorada. 6 of them were Emerald Coast boats- so away we went last weekend.
By the 3rd look, we were at Legendary Marine and found a boat we were happy with. The Pursuit that started this questioning. Put a deposit down, some pretty big promises were made by them, returned to LA very excited.
Long story short, their promises were totally not even remotely able to be met.
So, I went back to a broker I had talked to earlier to which he said “Oh, I coulda told you about Legendary- they are borderline criminal”
He had a Pursuit Denali listed, but the owner had moved it up to a lake near Memphis for the winter.
Barring any messes with the survey, I got a helluva deal seller super motivated- new Garmin suite, more Punch woofers and amps than I can count, and I think it’s a legit cross between two boats I always thought were cool…
A Tiara Coronet- Pursuit Denali’s are basically outboard Coronets made to fish with.
A Luhrs 290 or 320 express.
So, ultimately things work out for a reason- I wanted a boat that we could maybe overnight in, I thought the two above were cool boats, but I’m for sure not ready to have one that needs to be in the water.
And I can pull this one down the road and it fits in my shop.
Big thanks to everyone who replied- especially CP3- y’all made me consider some things that I never even thought about.

Maybe next week once the freeze passed thru- the owner has been a pleasure to work with. We found a couple of little issues in the sea trial and he’s had it at the dealership up there getting everything tidy’d up.
