Reply to flyby & Meanbean:

I don't have a published//fixed schedule for my CCW classes. I only have time available to teach this class about once/month.

I am usually able to pick a date about 2-3 weeks prior to the class. I have to find a Saturday that doesn't conflict with my handgun competitions, shotgun competitions, family functions, hunting seasons, and (if I can) major LSU football games (for example, LSU-Alabama).

I keep a "notification list" of people who want to be contacted when I have selected a date. I send an email to everyone on the list, and I enroll the first 10 people who respond. FWIW this class often fill up in 15-20 minutes.

Sorry I can't be more specific -- hope this helps.

Yeah -- that's why I charged you an extra $100.

Sorry -- I don't really know any instructors down there who teach CCW classes.

Do some homework before you pick one. In any area of the state there will be some great instructors who are providing valid, accurate info. And there will be other folks teaching things that'll get you killed or thrown into prison.

La. State Police certifies anyone who has completed the rinky-dink NRA Basic Pistol//Instructor classes. I'm not knocking the NRA -- I'm a life member. But the bar isn't set very high -- and you don't want to train under the guy who barely managed to get over that bar.

My point is that the instructor may not know jacksh*/t about Louisiana's deadly force statutes, or for that matter, maybe a dozen other topics. LSP doesn't even look at this, or audit this. But when you take a CCW class, you're gonna be relying on everything the guy teaches you.

Again -- please do your homework.

Adults, and teens accompanied by adults, are allowed to attend.

Hahahaha I was the other one. I'm not one of the well-known OBers, more of a lurker. Dawg's class was great (even while sober).

The only downside is that now I've got an itch to go do some force-on-force and defensive pistol training and the wife is already on me about my weekly ammo budget!
