Oakley Prizms are great visually but scratch easily. In a pair I'm going to be doing active stuff in and leave hanging from my neck that's a deal breaker, so I've always gone with glass lenses (Costa 580G and Maui Jim Super Thin Glass)

There's not really a "catch all" lens but there's one that comes close-
For context I currently have entirely too many pairs of sunglasses in my current collection and have sold/broken/lost countless others.
Best offshore lens is going to be the Bajio blue mirror glass- it's a hair darker than the costas but has a slight brown hue instead of the neutral gray which improves contrast. Problem for me with these is that they are overkill when it's overcast outside.
If you want a do it all lens- the Smith polarchromic in green mirror is the way to go. These lenses will adjust the light transmission between 11 and 23%, which means you can leave the dock wearing them at 6:00 am and they are just at home in full sun at noon- these are also a great everyday/driving pair of sunglasses for the same reason- the tint will adjust to conditions so you aren't having to continuously take them off and put them back on
Those are my picks, and I've currently got or had the following
Costa gold mirror, blue mirror, gray, copper mirror, green mirror
Maui Jim Green Mirror, gray, HLT
Bajio Blue Mirror, Violet mirror
Smith Gold mirror, green mirror, brown
The Bajio blue mirror is the best offshore lens I've ever worn, but I typically reach for the smith, because I can just throw my glasses on my face in the morning and forget about them

Fit . fit. Fit. Nothing more important for me. All high end components are the same. Fit and wearability is king
