That's why I don't shoot core locts nor do I encourage anybody to shoot them. I think they hold together and expand too well to exit reliably. Every time I've recovered one it looked just like the picture on the box. never weighed one but I imagine they're 80% or better every time.
I'm no ballistics expert but I think they need to be able to shuck some weight to make it all the way through sometimes.
That said, I had excellent results from them from my 6.5x55. Never recovered one.
