My mom has a John Deere Zero Turn that is around 15 years old. Overall it runs well other than needing a battery (I start it by jumping it with my truck), the big issue is that it intermittently goes dead.

The longer it runs, the shorter the time period before it goes dead. Initially, it may run an hour, then go dead, then run 40 minutes and go dead and so on. I'm assuming a component gets too hot? Any ideas?

She is widowed and lives a couple of hours away, when I make my monthly visits, I try to get as much done as possible and fooling with the mower eats up a lot of time.

I suggest looking at the ignition also. I had a truck that would shut off when it got hot. Ignition as bad.

Replace the battery first.

My z445 was doing that a few years ago and I changed the battery twice and neither made a difference. It ended up being the charging system.

the battery has no charge at all. It will not turn it over any. Have to jump it every time. My brother replaced the battery last year, so it is new (and obviously not being charged when the motor is running).

We pay for just about everything associated with her, so I need to do it as cheap as possible. She's 85 and in good health, we can't keep her out of the road, which amounts to high gas bills, car repairs, etc. Her calling is to take care of the old people in her church, the problem is she is older than most of them!

Coil packs are usually the culprit.
