I live outside of Shreveport. We used to see them all the time. I just called it a grass snake

I've only seen them in and around the swamps of Morgan City/Stephensville. I've yet to see one here in Baton Rouge either.

Rough Earth Snake. Actually more common in relatively open areas with disturbed soil (like flower beds) than in forests and areas where the soil is compacted. Completely harmless unless you are a pill bug or centipede or earthworm.

That snake is completely harmless to humans. I thought a worm snake, I am colour blind, but can tell you that that snake is harmless to you and your family. They live in flower beds and areas of moisture and fertile ground. Snakes aren't all bad !!
