sitting at MSY right now waiting to get on a plane to Denver. From there we are driving out to Nebraska to hunt some river/creek bottoms and ag fields. We are going self guided $100 a bird on some farmers private land. I have never killed a turkey and hopefully we can get on one, I need to see what all the fuss is about. Will post results!
Update!
1st morning sitting right by the roost in a winter wheat field. Thunder chickens are HAMMERING about 80 yards away on the limb. Four hens and two jakes pitch down and come check us out. As they pass by the two long beards of the roost come in on a string full strut and gobbling. When they get to the jake decoy they start beating his butt like you'd see on the outdoor channel. Easy a top 5 outdoor experience for me. Was fortunate enough to take one of the gobblers that morning, a 18 pounder with a 9.25 inch beard and 1 inch spurs on each leg. Needless to say, im now hooked and can't wait to try to get one in the bayou state next year pic

Sounds like a nice trip. I've never been turkey hunting. Seems like the thrill of calling in a bird would be enough. Might have to invest in a camera.
What part of Nebraska are you hunting?

Man you are in for a treat. When I was stationed in Kansas it wasn’t even fair, you could see them from a mile away, set up on them and hit em with a call and they would come running at you like suicide bombers, haha. Have a blast, wish I was you tomorrow for sure!
