0Made a woodie hunt this morning (with a friend) with my Boykin Spaniel on some public land in NWLA. She did awesome. It was her first hunt and I was pretty nervous, but she performed well. We killed 4, should have had our limit, but I was too busy trying to watch her that I didn't shoot very well.

And I remember having that same feeling when I took my lab on his first hunt. With a couple of friend making sure he didn't mess up the hunt and I couldn't hit a duck on the water.

Yeah that's her when she was younger. I was pretty proud, but yeah not exactly focused on hitting the ducks like I should have been.

For the life of me, I have no idea why more people down here don't hunt with Boykin's. People always tell me how they want a smaller dog because of the mud. And frankly, the hunting labs I have seen down here are smaller. (I assume because of the mud) Boykin's are perfect for that.
