Mower spark problem.

I have a JD LA115 riding mower that lost spark. I replaced coil and plug but when I try to start it and the flywheel turns to where the magnet contacts the coil it will stop. I can manually move flywheel past the coil and when I try to start it again it stops there.
I gapped the coil to the same distance as the old one was, probably 1.5mm.
Anyone have an idea whats wrong?

Was it running with the old coil?
ETA- reread and saw "lost spark." So obviously not running.
Could it be a seat switch or oil level switch?

I tried disconnecting the seat switch and still wont crank.
I checked oil and level was fine. I dont recall there being a sensor. I looked on JD.com and they dont reference one for the LA115.

Not familiar with the mower, what motor is on it?
I own a generator that I couldn't start for anything. After much cussing and hours of trouble shooting, finally unplugged the oil level sensor and it fired right up. Oil was full.
ETA-
I think the parking brake, seat switch, or hydrostatic pedal switch would keep it from cranking at all.
Can you spin it past that point manually?

to properly install a new coil, loosen the coil, place a business card in-between the flywheel and coil, then tighten the coil in place.
that gives you the best spark with the correct gap

this sounds like the valves need adjusting, its stopping because the valve isnt opening on time
go watch some videos here and you will learn a lot, if you have a question, he has done a video explaining it LINK
