and that is why we will soon be limited to one fish per man. If we cant work together to get better fisheries for everyone we will be screwed everytime. I have held a Mississippi and Louisiana license for many many years and fished out of Ocean Springs for over 30 years. Never have I or anyone I have known gone to a Louisiana rig for Snapper even when gas was one dollar a gallon. To be frank we thing our snapper fishing is second in the world only to Alabama not Louisiana, and if you think the Louisiana fisheries for Snapper is better than Bama you are not a regional fisherman or well informed. Speckled trout and redfish in Louisiana is better but not snapper.

The boats go to Louisiana rigs which are all in federal waters like Rampile, Ursa etc to catch tuna, wahoo, billfish, etc. But guess what even with new regs that is pure federal waters not state waters. That is why landing rule in Alabama is unconstitutional bullshite. They have no jurisdiction in federal waters.

Tell you captain friend thanks for putting you guys out of business, and quit acting like a POS Texan. Yeah, I simplified the argument their was opposition from some Louisiana and Alabama guys too, but not the double dealing backstabbing bullshite like from Texas.

A lot of truth in that statement. The feds don't give 2 shits about what goes on in the fisheries with recreational fishermen. They prove that every year they "study" the fishery and overlook all the artificial reefs whenever they take data. The only way for the recreational fishermen to get anywhere is if they all stand together.

I have family that live on Mobile Bay that come fishing with us from Alabama that say they're not caught up with LA yet.

I do wish that LA would have an artificial reef program like AL. It wouldn't hurt so bad when the feds tell the oil companies they must remove the rig and cap the well only to kill 1000's of fish.

World record fish didn't come of the coast of Bama or Miss. I've been fishing SKA circuit for over a decade from NC to Freeport. There's a reason Marcus Kennedy fishes ADSFR out of Fourchon almost annually. Sure I could stop short and bump fiberglass with the little boats and may get lucky fishing a reef made of toilet bowls, but I'll take ST-EI blocks over the entire Gulf.

It is the artificial reef program in Bama. It is unreal. They had a kids one day tournament last year 16 and under. I think Marcus Kennedy's son was in it and placed. A friend of mines son caught a 26 pound plus snapper and couldn't even get on the top five board at any time. When I fished in Mississippi in the 90's that would have been top three in most every tournament.

I was born and raised in South Louisiana so I am in no way trying to diss the state I think it has the best overall fisheries in the US. I am just saying I would not nor have I known any decent fisherman to travel to Louisiana from Bama or Mississippi to catch snapper. It is like coming from New Orleans to Mobile to eat seafood. There are some great places here but a lot more in New Orleans. Anyway, if they keep pulling all the rigs out of the gulf at current rate we are all going to be in trouble.
