I'm looking at this 2017 23ft bay boat for sale. She has a 250 verado in the back.

Few years ago that motor was garbage.Still a POS?
Should I move along?

Tight lines

No not at all... I’ve owned Mercury 350’s and Yamaha 350’s. That being said the Mercury is the superior motor by far. The Mercury Vesselview system is badass and one of the main reasons I would go with a Mercury any day over a Yamaha.

perfectly fine. Buy the boat if you like it.

The early years of Verado has tons of problems. They are pretty solid now.

He is and treats his customers very well. Don Weed at European Marine is probably best in the country.

The reason I would run the serial number is for maintenance records and warranty work done. I learned the hard way. The "280 hour motor" I purchased had the ECU and coils replaced at 210 hours. I was stuck with a 500 hour motor which blew a year and a half later.

If the boat is close to your location, Pro-Tech Marine in Orange Beach is a very experienced and Verado certified Mercury dealer in Orange Beach. Joe is extremely knowledgeable about their entire product line. If he’s close to you, I’d suggest having him look everything over. We have known Joe for a long time and he will definitely treat you right.

If you would like the warranty history of the engine, you can email me the engine serial number. TDusername @ gmail.com
