Lowrance Active Target my impression

Installed this in January and I would say it is the best upgrade I have done to my boat besides Ultrex spot lock. I wished I would have gotten this awhile back
I did have to buy a new 9 inch Carbon b/c I wanted a dedicated screen for active target but the Carbon only cost $700 at Bass Pro and I got a $200 rebate for the active target.
It really has helped when I drop shot for bass and white perch. I troll up to a brush pile and use active target to scan forward 40 feet. I will cast into it before I switch to drop shot and get close. I don't get hung up as much and I can see the fish swim right to my bait and I am ready to set the hook before I even feel a strike. For drop shot I will put it right on their nose or 1 foot above. When I stop seeing fish in front of the boat I leave. I have seen some huge fish swim right to my minnow and turn around and swim away.
I have gotten the limit on white perch 5 times this summer when I usually struggle to get the limit in the past.
I have fished in boats with Garmin Live Scope and Humminbird Mega live. I would say Garmin has the best picture of all three. Lowrance is ready to go out of the box. No adjustments necessary. The Humminbird has the lowest quality in picture but you can see your lure and you can see fish swimming around. It works just as well as the other two.

Have you seen what humminbird released yesterday?
for a mere $3000 you can get Target lock.
It locks on in step with your trolling motor to keep live pointed at the target you choose.
its getting unreal
with that and a 360 turrent you front decks will be looking like this....

I'll probably get Livescope installed in the coming "offeason", you chose the Active Target because you're a Lowrance user??

Looks like humminbird Target Lock replaces this.
Also looks like the mega imaging is now in synch with the trolling motor with Target Lock. This has always been the case for way points on maps, sonar, side and down imaging for Humminbird and minn kota. So they basically just got mega imiaging up to par with the rest of the technology and eliminated the need for an extra pole to mount it.
Target lock definitely looks more sharp. I will get one when Lowrance comes out with their version.

Yes, I already had two Lowrance Carbons. So I was familiar with them so I bought a third. I can pull up active target on any of the three units too which I do.

I just really don't see that many bass when fishing tops. When I do, by the time I reach for my drop shot, they are gone when I look back up. Have only caught a few doing it. Crappie OTOH... game changer.
