Yeah… “come on down!” As long as you get drawn for the public land endorsement.

In all seriousness, I've heard it made no difference, that everyone who wanted to hunt got drawn.

Was this your experience, or did you or someone you know get denied?

I was curious about that. I’ve gone 2/2, my buddy has gone 0/2

really? So folks are getting denied? That's interesting to hear. I was told it made no difference, that everyone who wanted to come got drawn, but you know how drama and hearsay is with us outdoorsmen: I took it with a grain of salt.

It sounds bad, but if I'm being completely honest, that is promising news. In a perfect world there would be millions of turkeys and we could all hunt to our heart's desire with plenty of room and birds to spare, but our state wildlife agency has so brazenly pimped out our turkey hunting over the years to where we are at a breaking point and something has got to give.

And it's not unique, it's the same story with wildlife and fisheries resources throughout the country. It doesn't matter if it's Louisiana redfish, Arkansas mallards, or Colorado elk: the hunting industry has gotten so effective at producing mapping and hunting and fishing products to make even an average to poor outdoorsman effective at killing and catching, and then glorifying and marketing it online and lobbying for it to continue, that we are now at a breaking point on many fronts.

Mudshuvl05- Great points about Mississippi. Shame on them for not pushing the season back just for starters.

My observation is turkeys are coming back in La, slowly but surely. The most promising thing is the population explosion along the Miss River, thanks to the low water/good hatches we’ve experienced the last few years. If the river stays down, should have another good hatch this spring.
