Outdoor Life magazine years ago had a story about a hunter that shot a deer and thought it was dead.
Put his rifle with a sling in the antlers, stepped back and took a couple a pictures.
Deer jumped up,took off with the gun hanging by the sling.Never found the deer or his rifle.
He had pictures of it though.

I made that mistake with a M16 once when I was in the Army

Ol boy from Anacoco did that in '83. Drill sergeant blew a gasket and almost hurt him bad. They put the DS on temporary leave after that incident.

would focus really hard on the area from where you first took off all the way to the first turn you made.

This. It may have hung on for a lot longer than youd think even after a turn. Ive left coffee cups on bumpers and drove around town only for them to make it back home unmoved

Good luck and update us!

Yeah but those $100 sunglasses (many years ago) flew off the (step) bumper and right into the other lane in front of another truck. It was one of those kind you just shake your head a little and go buy another pair.

Crazy story and may I one up you

I did that in the early eighties. I put my boom box on the bumper of my f250 and drove from a jobsite 30 miles to my house. Was chilling with a beer on my patio when I thought I needed some jam to relax. I looked all over inside my truck for it and thought I had left it at the job when my little girl said, “Hey daddy, is this it on the bumper?”

Impossible things do happen.
