Critical but stable condition.

California castle domain law should protect home owner.

I see danger for shooter:

Home under renovation likely did require forced entry

Grabbing and running toward the door albeit at someone entering may not constitute. The easonable fear of grave bodily injury.

That being said should have put a round in the melon, or performed unidirectional chest compression CPR . One story is better than two.

When the homeowner came face to face with the intruder, Guerra ran at him, attempting to attack him. It was then that the father fired at Guerra, striking him.
If this is accurate, he'll be aight. Depends on how they're defining "attempting to attack him", I guess.

Good for the homeowner. It sucks that the perps family can take him to civil court and probably win for damages. He should've killed him.

And being California, the jury probably will award damages.

There's something really wrong with this world where we award stupidity, criminal activity, and failure. It makes me sick. I hate that I'm part of a generation that gets labeled as lazy with not work ethic. I work my butt off and go above and beyond, but slack jawed losers in my age bracket get to draw unemployment or mooch off mom and dad. [end rant]

I suspect the homeowner will be ok legally.
