I may go fish up at Lake Fork in a couple weeks for a tournament. I'll only have two days to prefish. Looks like it will be a prespawn pattern so I would plan on throwing lipless crainkbaits, square bill crankbaits, chatter baits, and swim baits. Any suggestions on staging depths for the big girls? Where would you start? Shallow and work your way out? Work docks thorougly? What water temps should I key on? Any suggestions would be appreciated

I'd start by finding spawning flats (4-5') that drop off quickly into 8-12' of water.

The best situation for me is a relatively narrow creek channel that is bracketed on either side for some shallow flats covered in grass.

Appreciate the info. On those creek channels do you like running along the sides of the drop off? I was having some success running chatters on the grass lines where it dropped off from 7' t0 10-14'

I’d fish the Glade. If you don’t know the lake well, I’d spend most of my time there. Instead of trying to run the whole lake, treat the Glade like a lake in itself. You can usually get out of the wind there unless it’s really howling. Plenty of deep and shallow water in there, and it’s one of the places that warms up first in the spring. You definitely won’t be alone in there. Pretty popular area in the spring.

Yep that area is on my to do list? Is it that spot big enough to spend two days there?

It’s huge. Lots of old road beds, flats and a deep feeder creek. Rattletraps, spinnerbaits, and chatterbaits do well. If it’s slow, I like to flip stumps with a jig. Definitely stumps along the roadbeds. Lots of old lily pad beds in the back of it as well.

Fish within site of Mustang launch. I have fished there 20+ times..points, drop-offs, etc... red rattletrap is awesome. Bubble gum worm and swim jig is good. Stay I 4-8' water next to deep. Good luck and report back. BTW BBQ place at entrance to Mustang is awesome.

Awesome thanks. That video on the Bassmasters Elite Series there in 2019 is insane. The quality of fish in that lake is something to see.

I fished it with eric wright last april and we landed quite a few good fish. ..

Find someone that knows the lake. They have seen every lure made and they can be finicky at times

I’ll have to ask around once I get up there, but starting February 1st no one can get any intel from any guides that fish that lake.

Take Mach316's advice. He's not a guide, but damn well could be.
