So I told my Fiance that I was going to get a Kayak. She said well that's awesome but what am I supposed to do? She suggested getting a 2 person. Help me come up with some examples to why we should get 2 - one person kayaks instead of 1 - 2-person kayak.

I am looking at the Ascend™ FS12T Sit On Top Angler Kayak

Y'all are doing something wrong. Go fish to get away from her...not to bring her with you.

She loves to fish and be out on the water I just want my own because I know I will be out in it more and don't want to have to haul/paddle a 2-man by myself.

Not the case at all, she doesn't complain and can take her own fish off the hook

Me: "I'm getting a kayak to fish out of, look at this Ascend one"
Her: "Its a one seat kayak "
Me: "Exactly"
Her: "What if I want to go with you sometime, why don't you get a 2 seater?"
Me: "Buy your own damn kayak and go fishing with me"
Her: Walks away

- You would have more room, be less cramped and wouldn't worry about the one kayak being what both of you wanted.

- Each of you could customize your individual ones to fit your needs.

- If there are two people in the kayak, usually at least one person is out of position to fish and bringing a bigger fish in the boat becomes an issue.

- Usually a two person kayak doesn't have twice the storage/room of 2 one-person kayaks.

Then you don't bring her to fish. You bring her to do other things. Obvious answers are obvious.

I think this is the angle I am going to take. Also, at $475+/- 2 single person kayaks are almost as cheap as a 2-man.

My wife thought I was getting a two-seater too.

I told her I'd buy her one too, and she said "then I'd have to paddle."

I've been having a boat for 6 years and my wife has come fishing with me 1 time.

you could get a hummer while reeling in a 10 lb redfish.

Or you could just stay busy the whole day in the middle of the lake.

When you break up, it will be easier to manage the single seater by yourself. Tell her that.

Or you could get a real boat that is powered by gas. By doing so, you could cover more ground, she'd have more room to move around, she could lay under the bimini and you wouldn't look like so broke.

She's going to get tired of a kayak real quick. Just saying. My weekly Kayak rant over.

so you don’t have to fish the same hole,
so you dont have to hit her with your backcast
so you can each bring your own tackle in the tankwell
so you can take pics of each other

A 2 person is the worst decision you could make.
