The CMP raised the lifetime limit for 1911’s to 4. I had bought one in an earlier round and decided to get another one. Posted the serial number of the gun I received to the 1911 forum and one of the members looked up the serial number for me and said that it shipped to Springfield between May 17 and 29, 1944. Didn’t have a direct hit on the serial number but the serial numbers before and right after mine were both on the OSS Netherlands mission on 01/16/45.
It’s just luck of the draw if which gun you will get. Some will be Colt frames with replacement slides. Some people received Remington Rands. The one I received had a Colt frame and Colt Slide. The Remington Rand guns were not Remington firearms but Remington the typewriter company. There are also World War II 1911’s made by Singer. The Singer guns are highly collectible. Really happy with the example I received.

Buddy of mine Aunt called him about a month ago. Her husband who passed a year ago had a few guns. She wanted my buddy to have them. They didn’t have any kids. The uncle had 2 WWII era 1911’s. One was in rough shape but the other was a Colt with matching frame and slide in about 85% condition. Lucky bastard.
