Other hunter came walking up before I could even get down. Deer had 3 holes. One through a leg ( saw this one before I shot him), a graze on his neck (not bleeding) and my entrance and exit to the vitals. Other hunter true to claim the vitals was his shot but I calmly explained that he shot 6 times and the deer was moving pretty good on 3 legs when I saw him and I shot once and the deer died. Having that information it's pretty obvious I killed a deer that he only wounded and likely not fatal wounds. He left somewhat disheartened but I can't really blame him. I considered giving it to him and still might. He may need the meat more than I do

. I've seen a lot of good hearted actions the last few months. I'm sure this guy has been hunting his arse off all season and needed some meat. Maybe so, maybe not. It damn sure won't hurt to at least offer to give him the deer.

The worst thing that can happen is he walk away with a new found respect for the LEO's.

Giving him the deer assuming he needs the meet would be noble of you.
Personally, I'd have to be starving to accept another mans deer.

Those 20 were his take from the morning. He hasn't mentioned how the others in the blind did. :jump1: :jump1:

I've trained myself mentally to be on the other end of this scenario and believe that if I shoot a deer an wound him and someone else gets it then I should h redone a better job in my hunt. I have a ton of pics of this deer and actually drew back on him during bow but couldn't get a shot. Still unsure what ill do

I also attempted to find a blood trail and check where the deer was standing before I shot and there was nothing. So the hunter couldn't have trailed him there

If that's the case, then I wouldn't worry with it. You aren't going back next year and hunted your arse off as well. He should've made a better shot. This wouldn't be a on issue if you hadn't already killed a nice buck earlier in the week. Great way to end the season.

Tough call on that one. I was always taught that the deer belongs to the person with first blood, but from the way it sounds it's your deer. Hopefully y'all can work it out.

In other news, I pulled the trigger on this eight point. Been a tough year so far and I'm very happy with him.
