The wife had one when we got married. We had to have her put down (dog, not wife) a couple of years ago. I think she was about 14 years old. As dogs go, she was... ok? Incredibly dumb. Not very obedient (but my wife is an inconsistent dog trainer) so that probably didn't help. This particular dog definitely did NOT live up to the "ratter" reputation. I chased a mouse around the rental home we lived in while she stood and looked dumbly on. She didn't shed, which was nice. Had problems with ear infections her whole life. Sweet, but yappy. I don't think I'd ever think of getting that breed for myself. But, the wife loved her, and even with all the dog's shortcomings, it was still rough as hell when we had to put her down.

Great dogs simply put. My parents have had them dang near all my life. I got one about 4 years ago as well, party colored female. They love attention, listen very well and are smart. They don’t shed but do need trimming about twice a year. Their stomachs are sensitive and can’t take random scraps as well as most other dogs. Small amounts of table scraps not really a big deal. Although, one time while deboning a deer I threw mine probably a little to much raw meat. Was a shock in her diet and cost me a good bit in vet bills in short. I’d get another. As for the whole rabbit deal, I believe if you’d get the dog early on enough it’d be okay. Just my thoughts on it though.
