Yep, they always appear around mid May. I saw about 20 chimney swifts in my neighborhood as well. They must have hitched rides.

Since y'all have this settled... help me with my ufo.

Maybe simple for y'all, but I don't know what it is, and there's 2 of them that have been around my house for a couple years now.

About the size of a small hawk (the typical brown ones around BR etc), but it's gray.

So, yes, a gray looking hawk, fan shaped tail. Is that enough detail?

look up coopers hawk, sharp shinned hawk and Merlin. it's probably one of those.

Of those Cooper's is the most likely, by far. Sharp shinned are small - only a bit larger than an Dove. Merlins are more coastal and rare around houses. Cooper's will hang around around houses, especially if there are bird feeders. They love to ambush birds there. A gray Cooper's:

The doves I feed get hit by a local Coopers from time to time. It's one of the great things about feeding birds.
