Another tip.
When I have trapped Coons, they will reach out through the wire cage and scratch all the grass under and on the sides of the trap until they have actually dug out some of the dirt.
In the woods this is not a problem. But in my back yard, it leaves an ugly bare spot in the yard. I now put a few boards under the trap to protect the grass.
