Cardinal rule at my house. Other than pizza, etc. we do not put stuff in freezer without a date.

I've still got some salmon filets vacuum packed that we caught in Alaska in June 2017. Every now and then I pull one or two out for cedar plank grilling. No issues yet, but I also wonder how long they will last.

Several factors involved. If it's a fish that doesn't have much blood line, or the blood line is trimmed out, it can last over a year. I had snapper last week that was from 2017 and it wasn't strong at all. I've also had YFT that was less than a year old and it was strong as hell. Best bet is to invest in a vacuum sealer.
