Fuk the belly cut. I catch and clean tons of 14-16" trout and just work around the bladder. Loose way to much meat on smaller fish...

Filet and remove skin. I use a filet knife vs an electric knife cause it's 50 percent faster. You have to wait for an electric knife to cut thru meat. With a sharp good filet knife, it slices instantly thru trout like butter*

*im sure the electric guys won't agree.

Not so much. I've cleaned thousands and can say with confidence that electric is much faster for me and I've used some SHARP knives.

Eta: but yeah it's just personal preference. Whatever works

Agree. I throw 6-10 on table, spray them off with a hose, then filet. Spray off table and knife after those 6-10 heads are in the bucket, repeat.

Keep the slime to a minimum.
