Its not good at all...stabil will help extend the life of ethanol gas, but you have to run it the longer you let it sit the higher the % of having problems will be.
In my area I can't find ethanol free wish I could.

Could having run ethanol gas in my boat now cause it to run slower?
I'm ignorant with this stuff.

Its bad bad. We have outboards on our offshore vessels for work.
Every time they come in we cannot get them to start and or it runs like crap. If you run your engine often it won't be as bad, but this isn't ideal. Dudes talk about this all the time at the hardware store down the bayou..
Best too avoid.
ETA: First post on the outdoor board.

doesn't Seafoam take care of that?
It helps, but the problem comes when you mix ethanol with alummun and a little water. What happens is that a white podwer forms on the alummun and as the gas flows/shaking around, it breaks the powder off, pluging everything up.
Also, it breaks down after about 30 days.

STARTRON STARTRON STARTRON
I guarantee you will never have ethanol related problems if you use STARTRON....
My boat might sit 6-8 mo at the time and never had a problem since I started using it...

you will have problems with non ethonal if if it sits long enough. 6mos....
I dont tell people around here about startron cause that would hurt my wallet..
I LOVE ETHANOL it has made me good money the last few years

I haven't had any problems with non ethanol stuff after a year. Just shake the fuel up and go to town. Works for me.
Ethanol has kept me busy, but not paid. I sold a "broken" generator that I got for free last week for $650, but I don't charge friends/family to fix their stuff. Rarely do I have to buy new parts

yea... out of the few thousand or so carb rebuilds ive done, Ive probably bought maybe 30-40 carb kits...
I bet 80% of my work is ethanol related..
I bet I do 10-20hrs a week probono
for the fam and friends...

I've told my dad now that if he gives me an ethanol-broken engine again, I am gonna keep it because he obviously isn't responsible enough to have nice things

Since you guys are back, I won't make another thread. MB I did go searching for your small engine repair thread and couldn't find it.
I bought a pair of little pit bikes for my son, one wasn't running too well (got for a steal). I assumed it was an ethanol issue as it had sat up for a while in this guy's garage.
I cleaned out the carb and tank (metal parts only) and replaced it with stabil treated fuel with seafoam in it and I'm still having problems. Basically doesn't want to idle but will run when you get into it.
I'm looking for some direction
It's one of these with a 196cc foreign engine on it

Called and asked mercury about this and they said in the new 4 strokes 10% ethanol is ok

If your boat has an outboard, isn't the gas tank removable?

Should run straight gas first. I am not that fond of additives in small engines and have had a few problems before. Seafoam can clean out stuff and send it right to the jets, clogging them up again.
Sounds like a clogged or slightly clogged pilot jet to me. Culprit is trash in the tank. Cleaning a tank isn't as easy as it seems, and can be frustrating because it will constantly clog up carb jets, making you have to clean them a again. Plastic or metal tank?
What did you do to clean the tank and carb? Did you put it all back together exactly how it came apart? Not sure about the carb specs, but did you count the number of turns to unscrew jets? Some just sit in, but some also screw in. Also choke and idle screws.
That should be a start. With these Chinese motors, I normally see oiling problems and then they burn up. Look for the post I did about working on them also.
