Help me pick out new electronics on my boat!

Anyone here run the Lowrance HDS models with the totalscan tranducer?
Am I correct in understanding that the totalscan transducer takes the place of all the others with the exception of the 3D structure scan?

Totalscan is nice, and yes it has Structure Scan, Down Imaging, and traditional all in one.
Do you plan on putting more then 1 unit? If not I would go with the Elite Ti. Its basically just like the HDS but doesn't have Ethernet and not 3D compatible.

Would like to put 2-3 units! Is it possible to run multiple units on one totalscan transducer?

What kinda boat did you get that needs 3 units?

What kind of boat do you have?
I have a total scan on my trolling motor and the 3D scan on my stern. I also have a shoot thru hull. I'm using the Lowrance HDS Gen 3 units. They all work well. The Lowrance Carbon's just came out. They have dual processors, better graphics, and you can have split 2d from two different transducers on one unit. I think you can purchase the Carbon units soon. I would wait a bit and get one of them if you want the newest technology.

Get the HDS. Looks like money isn't a problem.

We have completed quite a few installation setups like this since Structure Scan 3D was released. This has been on both bay boats and bass boats. Everyone has been extremely happy with this setup since they can view either the TotalScan or 3D transducer from any of the networked units. That can be one or two units at the helm and a bow mounted unit. Thru-hull transducer is used for depth reading while on plane.

Garmin for ease of use and the bayou charts are the best for the price.
Lowrance or Simrad is great because you can make your own charts. It also seems that navico has more transducer options for the price.

I'm not rich by no means but don't mind spending money on quality products. Thanks for all the info ..... I called lowrance today and pretty much decided to go with the boat in a box kit.
It has the hds 7&9 and comes with the totalscan transducer, spotlight transducer, and gps point 1. I'll add the 3D module and transducer later on if I feel it is a nessisity.

spotlight transducer,
This transducer does not have the greatest reviews. The Garmin's version of this (PanOptix) is excellent though. When I bought my two Lowrance units I sent in my bar code on the box and they sent me two free spotlight transducers. I sold one already and might sell the second one because i'm not sure I'm ever going to try it out.

Check out BBG Marine they had the boat in the box with 2 HDS 9s on sale not to long ago. Best prices I've been able to find.
