All of a sudden it isn’t making ice. Not sure if the tray and those parts are bad or if the water line and dispenser are messed up. I found a replacement tray for cheap on amazon but I don’t want to put that in and have it be the water line. Any thoughts on where to start?

Disconnect water line after the solenoid at the bottom of the fridge.

See if water flows.

I’ve had the solenoid go bad before.

When was the last time you changed the water filter? Mine quit making ice and the filter needed changing

I’m dealing with this right now, too. I googled the model number of the fridge plus the “code” that the flashing red light inside my freezer door was giving me.

Internet says it’s bad pc control boards, which I was able to order for $200. They should be here tomorrow and I will be switching them out.

Manually fill ice tray with a few cups of water

If it freezes and dumps into ice box it's the solenoid or water line

I’ve got water coming out of the door dispenser. Filter is fine and I’m getting water out. Just curious if the dispenser to the tray is out. That part is cheap too. But I don’t want to order one and have it not work then have to order the others. It has to be one of the two.

I'm an idiot. I should have thought of that last night. I'll give it a try when I get off work.

Don't feel bad

Someone had to tell me to do that. My problem was water line freezing at solenoid. I still have the problem. I can set my refrigerator to 48 degrees and stuff in my fridge still starts to freeze

Just fixed mine. I have the infrared level detector.

The recover was out making the ice maker think the bin level was full (infrared beam blocked).

Disassembled the ice maker and made sure the heating element wasnt burned and ohmd out the heater bar to make sure the element had continuity.

Infrared sender and receiver was like $30 on amazon.

If your recover light flashes the same no matter what (hand in front or not) then most likely its the sender or reciever.

Mine is old school metal arm. We bought the house in 2007 and it was here then. The sticker on the inside said manufactured in 10-2003. I'm obviously not wanting to spend any real money on it, especially since we are going to remodel the kitchen in the next year or so and will be buying a new one then. But if I can replace a $40 part and have it make ice that would be great.

Mine was ice plugged in water line. I poured water in the tray and it worked. I then climbed under and used a blow drier on the hose and thawed it.

I messed around with it last week. I emptied out the tray, then poured water in the ice maker. Checked it a couple hours later and the bin was still empty. So I grabbed a bag of ice from my deep freeze and dumped it in the tray. Then we left for thanksgiving on Wednesday. Thursday night I ordered the replacement part. Supposed to get here tomorrow. So of course we get back into town over the weekend and the bin is full of newly made ice and it is working fine. I have no idea why it quit working for a couple of days. At least I'll have the replacement here if it quits again.
