Well bootlegger i said i would get you some pics and here they are. I am going to guess on some of them and when you correct me i will correct the post. Could you explain what you see which alerts you to what it is. Thanks!

GRASS

NUMBER 1
Common Bermuda

NUMBER 2
Centipede

WEEDS

NUMBER 1
Lespedeza

I remember you saying this was some type of clover or something and 2-4-D will kill it.

NUMBER 2
Shameplant

IDK what this is but 2-4-d does knock it back but it seems it keeps coming back. Chamberbitter or Shameplant. looking at google photos of each it looks more like shameplant with hoe long and slender the leaves are.

NUMBER 3
Dallisgrass

?Dallisgrass? I assume. the black seeds say it is dallisgrass as apposed to white seeds which would make it you said the only thing that kills this is MSMA but a normal person can not get access to this so i have been spot spraying with Glyphosate.

SEEDS

NUMBER 1
Bermuda

I guess this is a grass seed.

NUMBER 2
Purple nutsedge

I guess this is some weed seed. there is a 2nd weed seed at the bottom which i just happened to pull up as well, which i believe to be dallisgrass as well. I would assume dismiss and or sedgehammer with eradicate this.

Thanks for the help bootlegger and every one that posted.

2nd pic from bottom looks like King Ranch bluestem. Top pic looks like bermudagrass.

A sedge will never have a round stem. "Sedges have edges". They'll either have a triangular stem or quadangular stem

great. I hope you are right.

Looks like i was right when i have assumed i had a mix of centipede and Bermuda. Is there a way i can make the bermuda take over more than the centipede?

OMG, why would you want that? Bermuda is a weed everywhere but a golf course.

Grass 1
Common Bermuda
Grass 2
Centipede
Weed 1
Lespedeza (atrazine, Trimec, MSM Turf)
Weed 2
I'm going with shameplant, but not sure
Weed 3
Dallis
Seed 1
Common Bermuda
Seed 2
Purple nutsedge

I'm not always the best at identifying via pics... biology wasn't my specialty, I just have experience in the field.

If a low-maintenance, rarely used turf is what you're after, centipede grass might be your best bet. This group prefers a mowing height of 1 to 1 1/2 inches and, because it grows slowly, needs less mowing than Bermuda grass.

quote:

Bermuda grass requires a much more frequent mowing regimen. Because Bermuda grass' ideal mowing height is 3/4 inch to 1 1/2 inches, and because it grows so quickly, you may need to mow between one and three times each week. This group of turf also requires more frequent fertilizer applications

well i like to mow....... I dont like to mow twice a week. heck once a week during the summer months gets old.

so it looks like my yard is like 85% centipede with patches of Bermuda.

So in conclusion.

I have Dismiss, sedge hammer, and 2-4-D for all the weeds. This should be plenty correct? Well besides the dallisgrass. which i will be using spot sprayed round up.

Alx i see previous posts about removing Bermuda from centipede and it looks like Southern Ag Vantage grass killer and Fertilome Over The Top Grass Killer were recommended that will kill Bermuda but not centipede.

Vantage is awesome on Bermuda in centipede. I wish I had centipede again.

Awesome. I might check into that because I am having a small bermuda issue on one side of my back yard.

One section of my side yard is looking like 70% lesbodesia. It doesn't make a bad lawn.

Vantage or clethodim for bermuda out of centipede. Also dallisgrass. Sedgehammer will get sedge and 2,4-D on the chamberbitter.
First frost will also get chamberbitter and dallisgrass.

This is also the best time of year to spray vantage or clethodim to kill bermuda.

Haven't used clethodim before. May have to price it against sethoxydim. I've had great one-app results from sethoxydim on Bermuda in Centipede.
