Heard they were still catching trout, but many undersized.

Any word on if the crabs are still running?

Caught some hammers at the beginning of this week. The bigger trout are there but you got to go to a bit deeper water. If fishing the beaches back off to the third trough to where it’s 7-8 ft deep. You may get some in the shallows early but they won’t stay there long as the sun comes up.

The bigger trout are only gonna feed for a limited window each day so you gotta find the right spot and figure out that window.

Oh, and the sharks are horrible right now. Little 2-3 ft sand sharks were hitting our artificials and cutting us off. Big bull sharks on the beach also killed our bite.

Lastly the bull reds have moved in and are schooled up. You can’t miss them chasing and eating the school trout in the mornings under the birds.

Thanks for the report!

I've read from a few people that croakers (iirc) were the boat of choice for bigger fish. Is there somewhere to castnet for them?

Same thing we found two weeks ago. Caught our bigger trout in the channel between rock piles on the gulf side of the rocks. Pattern was the same on GI and west of Fourchon towards Timbalier. Caught 130 in 2 days with only 25 keepers.

We caught 5 over 16" in a short 30 minute window off a wellhead in 16' of water.

Crabs are still running strong, but a little more hit or miss than the last few weeks. Few weeks ago, you could catch a few dozen anywhere along the beach. Now its a little more spread out.

Watch out for the stingray spawn on the beach.
