Haven’t been down there in forever. Hoping for a week of no bs, some trout action would be a plus

Spent Fri-Sun and only found a handful of trout. Never happened to me before, there seems to be no shrimp around so no trout. Still had a good time but fishing was tough.

Yeah it is. The camps on the water so fishing on the fly will be a lot easier. A week of launching and loading twice a day would be way more than I could handle. Maybe we’ll get on em at least a few times

Good luck finding live shrimp. It is the worst I’ve seen down there in a long time.
The speck, along with everything else, will hit on fresh shrimp under a popping cork. I hade pretty good success on the vudu, under a cork with a steady popping retrieve

Had a fun, no bs week. Wind was tough, me being in an 18 1/2 bassboat, making my want to for long runs be rather lacking. Averaged about 20 keepers a day for the boat with 2 guys. I’ll take it considering I only fish plastic. Had one evening with 16-20 inchers hitting the spook. Hot as Satan’s balls even with the wind, come on fall

Just got back. Smoked the crabs on the beach, tough fishing though. Didn’t catch reds and trout until Saturday evening.

It was tough. Didn’t crab a lick but did swap some trout for some with a guy running traps. Already boiled, couldn’t beat that with a stick. Didn’t catch a redfish all week, I thought that odd

That's better than I've done recently there. I've definitely noticed that grand isle isn't what it used to be as far as racking up on specs and reds. Seems like 10 years ago we would be at our limit within 2 hours. Is it the decline in live shrimp that's causing this? Burns point is closer to me and I have better luck there anyway, but I miss weekends at grand isle.

Things cycle. GI has had down years in the past. The Fall/Winter trout bite will tell the story on whether last years freeze was worse than thought.
