Get a full filing kit with the guide, depth gauge, flat file, and a pack to store it all in if you decide to touch the chain with a file. Going to be a good bit of trial and error the first chain or two you file. I use a plastic straw to put around the cutter file to keep it protected too. Stihl makes a good kit with everything you really need and their files are good. Cheap files aren't worth the frustration.

Kobalt poles from lower. 40v. Works great and battery last long enough to cut 100 1 inch branches. Best thing is it has 5 year warranty. $170. extra batteries are $100. A guy in our camp had his fall off his tailgate and wouldn't work. He walked in Lowes with it and they said go grab another one. No questions asked.

Apparently mine is a Husky not a Stihl. My dad bought it for me several years back. But I love one motor and several attachments. My Edgar and weed eater get used the most. I tore out all my hedges so no need for the trimmer any more. I’d like to get a tiller just to freshen up the garden area each spring.

I can’t speak to the new electric chainsaws, but I will give you some advice from someone that has done a lot of cutting...get a good and properly sized file and use it.
That's what they told me at my local shop. The blade on the one I got is very sharp but wont stay sharp as long as those on bigger chainsaws. I see stihl has 2 sharpening sets. one that has a file with a guide and a depth gauge. And another that's an all in one tool. Anyone tried both? Which works better?
