Frayed string on new compound bow?

So, I know very little about compound bows. But my son wanted one for Christmas so I ordered this Diamond edge 320 a few weeks ago and just had a chance to sit down and mess with it some and noticed the string is frayed.
That's not normal right?

That's where the peep sight goes. That thread keeps the layers of the string separated for easy install when the bow is pressed.

Ok,gotcha,thanks!
I see what you mean now that it's just slid between them as a separator.

Solid Christmas gift, hope he shoots your family a deer with it.

As noted above, it’s a piece of string indicating where the peep sight goes.
