Anybody ever fish this area? If so, heard any reports or got any tips?

I'm thinking about going Monday. I've never been there but heard some good things about it. Wondering if live shrimp or croakers are the ticket or plastics? Also, any honey holes that the OB is willing to tell!

PAC is a great place to fish. We have been tearing up the reds and specks there this last month. You can catch limits about 100 yards from the marina, so you don't need much of a boat. Bring a cast net, head east from the marina and stop at the dam and you can catch tons of croakers, mullet and cocahoes. Or you can just buy them from the marina, but pay high. I have to say PAC is an easy place to fish, and is just overall awesome. I'll be there all weekend
Here is our catch from last weekend.

There is also a ton a shallow marsh around the area that makes for good site fishing if your into that. Otherwise just find an oyster bed and wear em out with live bait on a Carolina rig.

the Pointe is my wintertime fishing haven.
I do not however put in at Pointe Au Chens landing,I put in north bayou blue and make the run down.
Much faster.

yeah, screw all that driving to Point Au Chens launch. You'll save 45 minutes driving time because it's right there in Larose.
About a 20 minute boat ride down a straight canal with no wake zones depending on how fast your rig is.
I've made it in 10 minutes before in my cousins 18' bass boat with a Merc 175

This is why the OB is the best board on TD and really the only I frequent. So much good info on here.

Do you think the sulfur mines would be worth trying this weekend? I always heard they are great winter spots, but not sure about this time of year.

No,best should be around cuts and right out in the middle of the deep bayou.

So live bait in PAC? Any good hot spots. I was in the marsh area yesterday from Bason's Marina and was blanked with plastics. We passed by Sulphur mines and didn't get any hits their either. I'm still learning the area so any pointers would be helpful.

I fail to believe there is any living marine life around PAC.

When I lived with my parents, I would launch in the back yard and head to PAC from the ICW through Grand Bayou.

Good all around fishing. Especially if you know the all the cuts not far from Bason's. Used to hit those easily by crossing through the curvy arse bayou blue canal.
