However, In the 19th century, the jaguar was still sighted at the North Platte River 48–80 km (30–50 mi) north of Longs Peak in Colorado, in coastal Louisiana, northern Arizona and New Mexico. It would not be un heard of to have a few roaming around the delta and coastal marshes

In the last 70+ years it most certainly is.

There hasn't been a jaguar seen east of Arizona since 1948.

But you probably already knew all of that since it was in the same Wikipedia paragraph that you apparently pulled that from (word for word).
