Getting old and brushing my blind is now a job instead of being fun. Well, it was never fun, but you knew the season was right around the corner so that was the motivation. Been contemplating using this to cut down on the boat loads of brush I have to cut. My question is how long does this stuff last? I usually cut somewhere around 6-8 boat loads of brush. My blind is 18' x 14' with a slanted tin roof and wired sides with a gate and dog runs. I see bundles of (4) 4' x 4' for around $70.00. To do the whole blind it seems I would need at least 4 maybe 6 to cover most then touch up with brush. Not worried about cost, but looking at longevity, plus making the brushing process a lot easier on this old man and I would remove it after the season ends. TIA.

Not very durable in my experience. I would plan on it lasting one season and if you get two out of it its a bonus. If price isn't an issue you should look at Blindgrass. They're out of Lafayette. Its synthetic fast grass. Obviously more expensive but very durable. I put some on my pop up boat blind year before last and its in just as good shape as when I bought it. I am not affiliated in any way.

I used to use the fast grass. It only lasts one season and it gets pretty worn down if in open windy conditions. I used it on a boat blind one season, removed and stored in an outdoor shed. I will tell you this, roaches love to hide in that shite. I found out the hard way when I went to use it the following season.

I have several LARGE blinds that we use fast grass on.

Benefits of fast grass - solid base coverage and speed of application. You can save and get two years out of it if it is out of the water; but it takes high effort to remove and store without damaging it. We toss and rebuy yearly.

I’ve looked at Mexican palm thatch runner rolls, do the math; it’s almost double price per foot.

I shy away from permanent brush (plastic stuff) application due to cost and moisture/rodent issues during off season.

Mack’s had the best price this year. $70 a box. 4 4’ by 4’ (woven length) sheets. Mack sure the sheets are the same length when price comparing.

Big palm leaves if you can find them. Havent done it personally but have seen others use it. If you can find them somewhat fresh theyre pretty wide so would provide a fairly quick base and then can add grass on top.

Blindgrass.com

I’m pretty sure it’s manufactured in Louisiana, we use it for all of our lay down blinds and a frames. It’s incredible.

How many years on a deployed all year application are you getting on the Laffy grass?

Blindgrass is $13.75 a foot.
Fast grass is $ 4.23 a foot.

I agree on blindgrass. Been using on our pits for 4 years. Doesn’t break, soak water, rot, and hasn’t faded. Buddy has it on his boat blind and it looks great. Plus it’s not all one color like fast grass.
How are you getting your math there?

I’ve had Blindgrass on my layouts for 5 or so years. I never take it off, just top dress it to match whatever we are hunting. It is very good stuff.

We use fast grass. Works great for a base layer cover. Then we put wrap 2 bungees and fill in with other brush- mostly Johnson grass to break up the cover. Helps it not look so uniform. I recommend it. Like others have said, you’re lucky to get more than 1 year out of it.

Ordered a couple of sheets of blind grass. Good color and looks durable. It does not substitute for a base layer on a standup blind.

There is no woven edge to use to secure to the blind like fast grass has.

I can see it being used for pot blind flip panels and layouts. Not for larger stand up blinds.

Will try it on the flip panels this season.
