I pretty much only fish them in spring and early summer. Any pointers for fall/winter? Looking to maybe wet a line a few times during hunting season this year.

If you think you are working your bait too slow, you need to slow down more. I like working suspending plugs and/or jigs in cold water. Good fish can be caught, but it gets monotonous at times.

Smashed em in bayou black yesterday , on crank baits . White sexy shad seemed to be the best. 2 boats, all had a limit. Not in the Brady but close to it, if ya know where that's at, good luck.

That's winter tips. Fall fish are chasing shad and smashing baits. Fun as hell. Just think shad so cranks and spinners. And shad move to creeks (feeder creeks or ditches/troughs under water in pockets) in the fall so start there.

Exactly this, one of the best times of the year to catch some green trout. Only time I have ever went 10 bass on 10 casts was in November, shad crank. Had a limit in 5 minutes, fished all day, one of my favorite trips.

I'll be fishing in a several hundred acre private lake. Gets up to 12' or so deep. It has big cypress in it 3-6' of water. Pilings from and old bridge. Not really any other features. Fed by ditches and small sloughs but bottom doesn't have much other features otherwise.

Whacked some nice ones this weekend at the bend. I pretty much fish all year and do very little hunting anymore. I usually focus on perch/crappie/sacalait from October through early December then pretty much bass till February. look for activity on the surface if you see bass busting shad they are extremely active (for this time of year. the usual myth is that bass go deep during the winter but those fish will usually stage in schools in slightly deeper water and move up shallow to feed. one of the largest bass I have ever caught was dec 26th one year in 1 ft of water 11.86 and when I tell you where I am going to get the usual bullshite response from the central la anglers but it was at indian creek in 1994. on large waters you will also have the shad die off when the water temp gets in the low 40s. good electronics can find the bass school up in the deeper water and can make for an awesome trip vertical fishing spoons and tail spinners. one thing to note during the winter months, safety. I do get kinda lax wearing my kill switch and life jacket during the summer but during the winter a LJ and kill switch are mandatory as well as an auto pfd while fishing. also I keep an extra set of clothes in my boat for WHEN I go for a swim. there are usually a lot fewer boats on the water and I have went an entire weekend without seeing another boat on Toledo. good luck and tight lines
