I think that’s a good philosophy. The thing that resonates most with me is a statement by the owner of my auto repair shop, the cost of a significant repair on your truck, like replacing a rear main seal, is perhaps no more and 1/3 to 1/2, of just the sales tax, that you would pay on a new truck.
If you like the vehicle, and taken good care and maintained it, which you obviously do and have, and you’d prefer to keep it a while longer, there is nothing wrong with sinking some significant $ in a repair. Not everyone thinks like this, but is an individual decision.
