What is the earliest you have caught good numbers of specks on Elmers? I have a flexible work schedule until at least early May so I can do a weekday trip if the conditions are good. I have done well in late May but never tried before that.

Also how is Terrys live bait in leeville?
Thanks

That string of islands is my mid/late summer go to but I have never fished them this early.

Anything from Empire to Fourchon is usually on fire when the weather is miserably hot.

Ida wiped out Leeville. If you’re looking for live bait, either Port Fourchon Marina, or Bridgeside. Typically after Easter.

It’s too early for specks in the surf. They’re still catching trout from LA1.

Terrys is back in business and still the most consistent spot for live shrimp. Fourchon Marina is my backup spot. This seems a little early for beaches and weather is always iffy. Please post if you find fish.

That's good to know.

There are trout there now but not in great numbers. If you want to catch a “big” trout now is the time to go. The trout that are there now will usually be closer to the pass at grand isle. Suspending jerk baits is what I would be throwing this time of year. The biggest problem is if the water is clean enough and is the surf calm enough. First day of a north wind and you can put a stringer together.

I was coming here to say that Wolfman. Right now the big girls are out there, the good eaters are still in.

But that won't be for long. Week to week I'm seeing my average sized trout go down in the northern Biloxi Marsh.

Leeville is toast. But Terry’s is up and running. Super nice guy.

Terrys live bait is still there.

eta: Catch a day with a light north wind and Elmer's will be like glass. Light wind...5 mph or so...best kayak day.
